Rod pod

Rod pod

If you prefer static fishing on carp you need something where you can put your carp rods on as the carp can often let you wait. You can use a rod pod or banksticks in any combination with buzzer bars. A rod pod is a rod support system that you can place on any surface. For people who often fish in the city and therefore have to put the rods on a hard surface, the rod pod is thé solution.

When purchasing a rod pod you must pay attention to the amount of fishing rods you fish with. You have a rod pod for 2, 3 and 4 rods. At the back of the rod pod you install the rod rests where your rods fall into. Then you install this on a buzzer bar. At the front of the rod pod you install your bite alarms and swingers or hangers.

What is the best rod pod for you?

When purchasing a rod pod you must pay attention to how many fishing rods you use. There are rod pods for 2, 3, 4 and sometimes even 5 carp rods. With some brands you can buy extra threads or other buzzer bars separately when you want more or less rods on the buzzer bars. But not always. So think about this! In addition, there are of course many different models. The best-known model is probably the 4-legged rod pod. This is the most stable model. Depending on the brand, these can be adjusted in various ways. What many 4-legged rodpod's have as an extra advantage is that the legs or supports can be used as banksticks and can be loosened together with buzzer bars. So you can also use them as a goal post set up or as a separate support set.
In addition, there is also the tripod rodpod. This one contains 3 legs which immediately entails the disadvantage that it is less stable. Fortunately, there are also tools to compensate for this. However, the tripod has the advantage that rods are often higher off the ground and you do not have to bend over. But more importantly, the position of the rod can be adjusted more extreme. For example, with a tripod the rods can be held (almost) in a vertical position. Especially with carp fishing in France this can come in handy to get over obstacles or to get over a slope. The opposite may also be necessary, that you want the top of the rods (almost) in the water, then the tripod certainly is a solution.

In addition, there are different types of material that a rod pod can be made of. The most famous materials are plastic, aluminum and stainless steel. The plastic rod pod often has the lowest price and weight. This low weight is of course very attractive, because as a carp angler you already take so much to the waterfront. But the plastic also makes it vulnerable to fractures. The light weight can also cause problems in strong winds when the rod pod is not anchored.
If you want a slightly more robust rod pod, then an aluminum rod pod is a solution. The aluminum is often coated for protection and therefore does not rust quickly. Aluminum is also relatively light and stronger than plastic. The price is also very good. However, if you really want a sustainable rod pod, then you take a stainless steel rod pod. These rod pods last a very long time and are almost impossible to destroy. They do not bend or bend hardly. They are also like a house during a storm. The disadvantage is that these rod pods are very heavy and often have the highest price.
A side note in the choice of materials is that you also have to look at the brand. Because a plastic rodpod from Fox has better quality than from a low-cost brand.
