Jerkbaits

Jerkbaits

Fishing with jerkbaits is an active way to fish for pike. You need a short jerkbait rod with reel. It is also possible to jerk with a windmill, but we recommend a reel.
Jerkbaits are different from crankbaits because you have to make the movement yourself to make it look like a fish. They are usually large and heavy and therefore especially suitable for pike fishing.
Among the jerkbaits there are 3 different types: gliders, divers and hybrids.
Glider jerkbaits have the well-known link-right action, which means that you have to move left and right with short taps.
A diver jerkbait is a jerkbait that you move from top to bottom, the well-known saw-movement.
You can move the hybrid jerkbait in all directions. Because you can move it in all directions you have to be familiar with jerkbait fishing, otherwise it can look unnatural if you don't do it right.

Tip: when fishing with jerkbaits, use a titanium or steel spinneret or a titanium underline. This ensures that the bottom line doesn't get tangled up with the jerkbait's treble hooks.
