Pan nets, landing nets & landing net handles for coarse & match fishing

Pan nets, landing nets & landing net handles for coarse & match fishing

A scoop net is an indispensable attribute when fishing. Even when it comes to small fish species, the situation can make you need a landing net. Your fixed rod and the thin fishing line are usually not designed to lift the fish out of the water.
When fishing for whitefish, it is advisable to choose a net with a flat bottom. This net is also called pannet. The net of a pannet can be coarse or fine-meshed. Fine-meshed is important if you catch a lot of small fish, so that they are not or hardly damaged. A coarse-mesh pan net is more suitable if you mainly catch large fish. Coarse-mesh nets have the advantage that they retain less water and therefore remain light in the water.  Whether a net retains water also depends on the material. So-called ghost nets are made of knotted nylon so that they do not retain water or slime, the same property as rubber nets. Because these nets do not retain slime, they do not stink or hardly stink after fishing.
You can often extend the pan net by mounting a scoop net handle on it. Because the screw of the net and the thread of the stem are always universal, it always fits and it doesn't matter which brand you choose. Scoop net stems come in 2 types; telescopic and insert / crossing. Think carefully about what suits you best. They often have a length of 2 to 5 meters. Very easy when fishing from a fishing platform or wide reed collars.

Of course there are also other scoop nets that are suitable for landing whitefish. What to look out for

  • What kind of fish are you fishing for? Brasem requires a larger net than a roach.
  • How do you fish. If you fish mobile, a lightweight and telescopic net is recommended.
  • A soft and fine-meshed net is a must for whitefishing. This way you don't damage the fine fins of the fish.
  • If you fish a lot from a high side or shoring, then use the scoop net handle to have sufficient length.
