Bite alarms & accessories

In the modern way of carp fishing the use of electronic bait alarms has had a significant impact on the carp community. These bait alarms are also called Optonics, the reason for that is that one of the first bait alarms had the text "Optonic"on them.
The function of the bait alarms is very simple for those who don’t know them yet; when there’s a bite by car carp on the other side of your fishing line, the line will go through the electronic sensor which will then make a sound, this is often a beeping sound. These bait alarms have been developed for night fishing, and have continued development for other kinds of fishing techniques. Also, the predator fisherman who like to fish with dead bait like to use these bait alarms. While fishing on sight, it is important for the rods to be close to each other. Are you using bait alarms then you’ll have to respond to the sound, which will give you the possibility to move the rods further apart.

Here at CV Fishing you could also order the bait alarms in sets of two or more, because most carp fisherman like to fish with multiple carp rods at once. You can screw the bait alarms onto the rod pod or loose bank sticks. To distinguish the rods from each other the bait alarms will all have a different LED colours. You can also change the tone of the bait alarm so you can hear which rod is making the sound, next to that the sensitivity of the volume is also adjustable, This is helpful for several circumstances where you’ll be dealing with, like fishing on strong flowing waters like large rivers. When you’re fishing on calm waters it’s better to put the sensitivity on low.
The adjustable volume is also very helpful when you may not disturbe your surroundings or when you are far a way from your rods, you can put the volume higher.

Sounder box / receiver

Together with a bait alarm set there often is a so-called receiver or sounder box, which will make it possible to hear your alarm when you lay in your carp tent while having a run on one of your rods. You will also have to be able to find the receivers in this category, both wireless and with a cable. The wireless variants are a bit pricier than a sounder box with a cable, but that’s a price you’ll have to pay to not trip over the cables! A lot of sounderboxes have multiple LED’s so that you can see exactly which bait alarm has a bait. Another advantage of the receiver is that even when the volume of the bait alarm is really low, you can still use the sound of the sounderbox.

Are you looking for the best bait alarms? We suggest Fox and Delkim bait alarms, but also brands such as Nash, Prologic and JRC also have decent bait alarms when your budget isn’t that high.
